Your guide will pick you up from the airport and take you to Nankuse Lodge in a short 40-minute drive. Naankuse Lodge & Wildlife Sanctuary is located in a 3,200-hectare reserve. It offers a wide range of activities as well as a stunning atmosphere and surroundings.
Naankuse Lodge is a wildlife foundation in Namibia; all profits from the lodge go back into the charity projects. Naankuse supports the local San community and the activities are led by the local San. Volunteers who want to help with conservation can join the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary volunteer program. The program offers volunteers the rare and exciting opportunity to work closely with African wildlife and actively participate in conservation.
We will have a life-changing experience when we come face to face with Africa's fastest land animal and walk alongside it. This activity takes place in the morning when our cats are very active and curious. You will be accompanied by professional guides.
Africa Awaits Lodge & Safaris in Gobabis, Namibia, is a tranquil retreat surrounded by nature and wildlife. The lodge offers a range of amenities and services to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay for guests. Nestled between Gobabis and Botswana, just a mere 15 km from Gobabis, Namibia and 99 km from the Botswana border post, the eco-friendly lodge caters for all with exclusive private accommodation in a tranquil, calm, natural environment. Here nature is truly on your doorstep. Take the afternoon to relax and enjoy the nature that surrounds you or just relax at the poolside and bar for a cold cocktail.
After breakfast we continue over the border into Botswana, entering Ghanzi. With over 200 cattle farms, Ghanzi is considered Botswana's cattle-farming hub. Ghanzi District is located in the western portion of the country. It includes some of the best cattle ranging land globally, renowned for the high quality, free-range beef it produces.
After checking in we take a quick stop to witness Africa’s most iconic trip “The Bushman”. The walk takes about an hour and focuses on the beauty of the culture and the knowledge carried from one generation to the next. The ancestors of the hunter-gatherer Sān are thought to have been the first inhabitants of what is now Botswana and South Africa. The historical presence of the San in Botswana is particularly evident in northern Botswana's Tsodilo Hills region.
Maun is the fifth largest city in Botswana. In 2011, it had a population of 55,784. Maun is the tourist capital of Botswana and the administrative center of the Ngamiland District. The settlement was founded in 1915 as the tribal capital of the Batawana people and has the reputation of a Wild West town with a hard life that was the economic center of local cattle breeding and hunting.
Maun is now a thriving tourist town, notorious for its donkey and, to a lesser extent, goat plague. These animals can be seen roaming the city when local farmers arrive in countless taxis to sell their goods at the roadside. Depending on the time of arrival, a short drive through the city can be arranged with your guide.
Prepare for an early departure. A half day to explore the famous Okavango Delta with a Mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe. Travel to the Okavango Delta to experience the magical Chief's Island, whose fascinating heritage and wildlife will amaze you.
From the Thamalakane River Lodge, you will take a 45-minute boat ride north to Boro. Once you have passed the village of Boro, you will switch to wildlife observation mode for the rest of the journey. Spend the day exploring this remarkable area and discovering its incredible beauty.
Depart in the afternoon and explore the delta's channels on the way back to Maun. This experience brings you close to nature as you enjoy the tranquility of the waterways, the sounds of nature around you, and encounters with wildlife.
2x nights at the oasis set among the Mokolwane palms on the edge of the pans. It is ideally situated close to the entrance to the Nata Sanctuary and is just off the main road, 10 km from Nata village. This is the junction to the Okavango, Chobe and Francistown areas, where the average age of each tree is over 4000 years, and the boundless lunar landscape of the Makgadikgadi salt pans is as vast as Switzerland.
The shady tree canopy surrounding the lodge is a hive of activity, with a bird feeding area and active water feature providing the bird watcher with the opportunity of viewing a variety of species from the comfort of either the pool deck, open bar, or restaurant. Relax for the rest of the day.
Morning is planned to meet the locals of Nata. Led by a resident, our village outing goes beyond the main tarred road and explores the daily sprawl of dusty tracks that wind between mopane trees and grasslands of the Makgadikgadi.
In the afternoon we take a drive through the Nata Bird Sanctuary. It is Botswana’s first community-based conservation project. Most famous for its thriving flamingo population and ephemeral lake, the sanctuary is set inside the Makgadikgadi Salt Pan network and is the easiest way to access this fantastic landscape. The Nata River delta feeds the Sua Pan in the Nata Bird Sanctuary and forms the breeding grounds for many water birds, including pelicans and flamingoes in their thousands when the correct conditions conspire.
We depart from Nata Lodge in the morning right after a late breakfast and head to the world of elephants. Between two of Botswana's top attractions, the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park, lies a place where fine sand and huge elephants meet. The combination of these two things creates a place where both come together for those of us who seek adventure.
This is a lodge that combines the beauty of African nature and its wildlife, Elephant Sands. Guests can enjoy the rest of the day in the company of the gentle African giants.
Our next 2 nights will be adventurous in the Chobe National Park. We have a late relaxing breakfast before packing up and getting ready for the next destination. Chobe National Park is Botswana's first national park, and also the most biologically diverse. Located in the north of the country, it is Botswana's third largest park, after Central Kalahari Game Reserve and Gemsbok National Park.
This park is noted for having a population of lions which prey on elephants, mostly calves or juveniles, but also subadults. Chobe National Park is Botswana's first national park, and also the most biologically diverse.
Early morning drives, which usually begin at sunrise, are excellent for wildlife observation. Animals tend to be more active during these cooler hours, increasing the chances of encountering a variety of species, including predators hunting or relaxing after a night of activity. The afternoon is for relaxing.
We have the afternoon planned for the boat cruise. Boat trips on the Chobe are a fantastic way to experience Botswana at its best. In Chobe National Park, you can get very close to large herds of various animals. They usually make their way to the river and the islands in the river to feast on the sweet grass. Puku and Letschwe antelopes are widespread in the Chobe river areas.
After breakfast we will be visiting the Victoria Falls for the whole day. Victoria Falls, or Mosi-oa-Tunya (Tokaleya Tonga: The Smoke That Thunders), is a waterfall in southern Africa on the Zambezi River at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. It has been described by CNN as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the world.
The roar of the falls can be heard from 40 kilometers away, while the spray and mist of the falling water can rise up to 400 meters high.
Guests can explore the town or take part in optional activities offered at the hotel on their own free will for the next 2 days.
The day is free for everyone to enjoy. Guests can book activities they would like to participate in at reception. The flight over Victoria Falls is very popular and highly recommended. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Other activities include whitewater rafting, game drives, and lion walks, to name a few.
Zimbabwe, officially the Republic of Zimbabwe, is a landlocked country in southeastern Africa, located between the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers. It borders South Africa to the south, Botswana to the southwest, Zambia to the north, and Mozambique to the east. The capital and largest city is Harare, and the second largest is Bulawayo.
